More than 14,000 extra weekly bus services will be delivered over the next four years under a re-elected NSW Liberals & Nationals Government, with passengers in the Davidson electorate set to be among the biggest beneficiaries.
Minister for Transport and Infrastructure Andrew Constance said the NSW Liberals & Nationals have worked hard to improve bus services across the State and this commitment would take the total number of services added since we were elected to 50,000.
“By putting on more bus services we are making it easier for commuters to leave their cars at home, easing congestion on our roads,” Mr Constance said.
Member for Davidson Jonathan O’Dea said that Castle Cove, East Lindfield, Lindfield, Killara, East Killara, Roseville Chase, St Ives and St Ives Chase would benefit from improved services.
“I know how much people rely on our services, and I am pleased we are able to continue to improve and increase services, particularly in areas with high demand,” Mr O’Dea said.
The 194 St Ives – City route will benefit from an increase in off peak and weekend daytime services, as well as extended evening hours.
Mr O’Dea said the extra services were part of the NSW Liberals & Nationals record investment in public transport.
“The NSW Liberals & Nationals strong financial management has allowed us to improve bus services across the Northwest and this commitment today demonstrates that we’ll continue to provide more services when and where they are needed.”
“We’ve already added over 32,000 weekly bus services since coming to government. This is in stark contrast to Labor who cancelled 1,500 bus services when they were last in power.”
