Hundreds of local families will soon benefit from a further $15 million major upgrade to Killara High School by the NSW Government.
Education Minister Rob Stokes and Member for Davidson Jonathan O’Dea explained that the school upgrade will deliver 17 classrooms, new staff areas and new toilet facilities.
Mr O’Dea said he was thrilled about the positive difference this investment will make for school students, families and teachers.
“This $15 million upgrade is great news for local families and educators. It’s so important that we have top-quality school facilities for Killara High School students now and into the future,” Mr O’Dea said.
Mr Stokes said the project is another example of the NSW Government delivering the school resources local students and their families deserve.
“We want our children to have the best opportunities and providing high-quality school facilities is essential,” Mr Stokes said.
The major upgrade to Killara High School is part of the NSW Government’s record $6 billion school building program, which will deliver more than 170 new and upgraded schools. This includes major upgrades to St Ives North Public School, St Ives High School and the new Lindfield Learning Village, which opened earlier this year.
The NSW Government has also invested record-breaking funds to eliminate the school maintenance backlog, ensuring every public school in the State provides the world-class facilities that our students and teachers deserve.
In 2014, Killara High School benefitted from $7.9 million in NSW Government funding, delivering 22 permanent classrooms, shared learning spaces, a replacement sports court and the removal of 6 demountable classrooms. The current $15 million upgrade adds substantial extra permanent and specialist teaching spaces, as well as upgrades to existing facilities.
