Seven preschools in Davidson will be receiving funding for upgrades, thanks to a NSW Government initiative aiming to continually improve the environment of preschool services.
A total of $86,731 has been invested in community preschools in Davidson, as part of the NSW Government’s Quality Learning Environments program, which funds improvements to preschool grounds and buildings, as well as specialised educational programs for children. Jonathan O’Dea said these grants are making a big difference to preschools in Davidson.
“In this round of Quality Learning Environments grants, funds have been allocated for specialised educational programs and outdoor activities, along with service enhancements such as playground renovations and new playground surfaces,” Jonathan O’Dea said.
Minister for Early Childhood Education, Sarah Mitchell said the grants help preschools deliver quality early childhood education
“As a mother myself, I know that often preschools have to rely on fundraising efforts to ensure their service is up-to-scratch physically, and to deliver programs that are more niche,” Ms Mitchell said.
In this round of Quality Learning Environments grants, the following services in Davidson electorate will receive upgrades:
- $14,850 for Christ Church St Ives Pre-School for outdoor musical instruments
- $13,580 for KU St Ives Barra-Brui Preschool for internal painting of preschool areas & resurfacing of the preschool foyer
- $241 for St Stephen’s Belrose Kindergarten for a Koori Curriculum workshop & other resources
- $15,000 for St Ives Pre-School Kindergarten to replace rubber pour soft fall area in playground
- $13,060 for Uniting Forest Preschool Belrose for a swing
- $15,000 for East Lindfield Community Pre-School for replacement of softfall and playground surface
- $15,000 for Gordon Community Preschool to replace lighting
