Roseville Station is one of at least 11 stations expected to benefit from a $133 million investment in the NSW Government’s Transport Access Program next financial year.
“This exciting announcement means that planning for the installation of a new footbridge, two new lifts and improved lighting for Roseville Station will soon begin,” Mr O’Dea said.
“It’s fantastic to see the NSW Budget 2018 delivering on long overdue accessibility upgrades for Roseville Station, after over 350 members of my local community recently signed a petition. I am delighted with the news and will continue to lobby for accessibility upgrades to Killara Station.”
The Premier, Gladys Berejiklian, announced, “We are committed to making public transport accessible for customers with a disability, those who are less mobile customers and parents with prams.”
“We have invested more than $1.3 billion in the Transport Access Program since 2011. Since then more than 450 projects have been delivered or are underway across the state, including accessibility upgrades at stations, better transport interchanges and upgrades to ferry wharves,” said Minister for Transport and Infrastructure, Andrew Constance.
“We now have 173 accessible stations out of 307 on the suburban and intercity networks. This means that approximately 90 per cent of customer trips across the network are now accessible,” said Mr Constance.
