Member for Davidson, Jonathan O’Dea encourages Davidson seniors to mark their calendars and join the 2018 NSW Seniors Festival celebrations.
A number of local events and special deals will be on offer during the Festival, which runs from 4 April to 15 April, such as Glenaeon Retirement Village’s interactive sessions on laughing yoga, social media and travel technology.
“I encourage seniors to join in the 2018 Festival celebrations. There are wonderful social, creative, cultural, and physical activities available to inspire older people to get involved in our community,” said Mr O’Dea.
Minister for Ageing Tanya Davies said the NSW Government has provided more than $200,000 in funding to support more than one hundred local events across NSW with all activities in line with the 2018 theme Let’s Do More Together.
“I’m thrilled with the activities on offer this year. Councils, businesses and community organisations are hosting free and discounted events which celebrate seniors and remind us it’s never too late in life to try new things,” Mrs Davies said.
The NSW Seniors Festival is the largest event of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere. More than 500,000 people are expected to participate in 2018, the year of the Festival’s Diamond Jubilee Anniversary (60 years young!).
The Premier’s Gala Concerts will also be held on 5 and 6 April 2018 at the International Convention Centre Sydney alongside the Seniors Festival Expo. The Expo, which is free and open to the public, will feature more than 50 exciting exhibitors tailored especially for seniors.
Seniors can find out about events happening in Davidson and across NSW during the Festival by searching via postcode, suburb or region at https://www.seniorsfestival.nsw.gov.au/events or by contacting their local council.
