Non-government schools in Davidson have received $273,372 in additional funding to put into resources where they are really needed, Member for Davidson, Jonathan O’Dea announced today.
The NSW Government’s ‘additionality funding’ flows to non-government schools on a needs basis to provide resources such as teacher’s aides to support students with disability, teacher training or literacy and numeracy intervention programs.
Mr O’Dea welcomed the funding for local schools.
“Schools know best where to direct these funds, and we’re pleased to provide this funding for a range of programs and resources to best support local students,” Mr O’Dea said.
“This funding will allow schools to provide the best education possible.”
Education Minister Rob Stokes said the NSW Government is providing more than $45 million to Catholic and Independent schools across NSW in 2017, up from $25 million in 2016.
“Our schools are important community assets, and we are committed to providing funds to support students in both government and non-government schools,” Mr Stokes said.
This tranche of payments is the second of two for 2017, the first tranche being distributed in the first half of the year. Non-government schools in the Davidson electorate have now received a total of $535,306 for the year.
