Member for Davidson, Jonathan O’Dea said safer, upgraded shooting facilities will soon be developed at the St Ives Pistol Club and Peninsular Firearm Academy at Terrey Hills.
“The NSW Government has allocated $8.6 million funding this financial year for new and upgraded facilities at key shooting ranges across NSW, including $1.3 million for the St Ives Pistol Club and $3.2 million for the Peninsular Firearm Academy,” Mr O’Dea said.
“These projects will provide facilities which meet important safety requirements, identified by the NSW Firearms Registry, for thousands of local licensed shooters.”
The St Ives Pistol Club will use its grant to further upgrade existing ranges and build an additional high quality pistol range adjacent to its existing site, which the Club has been developing for 52 years.
The Peninsular Firearm Academy will construct a 100 metre rifle range.
“This is a significant step forward for the Academy with a membership that has grown from 10 to 650 in its 19 year history,” Mr O’Dea said.
“The Academy range will be situated adjacent to the St. Ives Pistol Club facilities creating a shooting precinct almost completely surrounded by the Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park.
“Both projects aim to ensure safe and enjoyable pistol and rifle shooting into the future,” Mr O’Dea concluded.
