Member for Davidson, Jonathan O’Dea said work is progressing on a $20 million project to improve traffic flow along Boundary Street at Roseville, which is being delivered through the NSW Government’s Pinch Point Program.
Mr O’Dea said work started in May 2015 on the project, which aims to improve traffic flow and increase capacity on this important corridor.
“Boundary Street provides a strategic transport link between the Pacific Highway and the Northern Beaches with nearly 37,000 vehicles using the route every day,” Mr O’Dea said.
“The NSW Government is funding an upgrade of the road to improve traffic flow and travel times during peak periods.
“The first stage of the project to build new retaining walls along Boundary Street and Hill Street is complete and the focus for the next 12 months will be on widening the road and installing new traffic lights.”
Mr O’Dea said, “When completed, the project will deliver two dedicated eastbound lanes on Boundary Street between the Pacific Highway and Archer Street, two left turn lanes onto the Pacific Highway, and traffic lights at the intersection of Corona Avenue and the Pacific Highway.
“To improve pedestrian and cyclist safety, a shared path will be built on the northern side of Boundary Street between Hill and Archer streets and a pedestrian crossing of Boundary Street will be maintained at the Archer Street traffic lights,” he said.
Road users are advised changed traffic conditions will be in place as work progresses including some temporary changes to parking on Hill Street.
Reduced speed limits and partial lane closures may also be required.
Motorists should follow the direction of traffic control and allow extra travel time.
