Member for Davidson, Jonathan O’Dea has urged Davidson electorate bus commuters to plan ahead with the new CBD bus network to operate from this Sunday, ahead of construction on Sydney Light Rail.
“Thousands of bus commuters travel to and from the city each day, and our clear message is to plan ahead,” Mr O’Dea said.
“Most customers will be able to use a service that takes them close to their existing stop, while others might have to walk a little longer to reach their usual destination, or connect with another bus or train. There will be disruption with George Street out of the equation, but my message to commuters is to start planning now to avoid chaos.
“These changes are a key part of an integrated transport plan to keep pace with Sydney’s current and future transport needs. If we do nothing, traffic in the city will grind to a halt. That’s why we need to change the way we use our buses, so they are part of a more efficient and integrated network,” Mr O’Dea said.
Routes 194, 270, L70, 271, 274, 594 and 594H will continue to operate to and from the QVB area. However, inbound buses will set down on York Street, north of Market Street, and outbound buses will pick up from Clarence Street, north of Market Street.
Routes 205, 206, 207 and 208 will operate to and from Bridge Street and Gresham Street, and will no longer operate via Wynyard. Buses will travel via the Cahill Expressway and Bridge Street, terminating at Gresham Street. Outbound services will start at Loftus Street before Bridge Street. Nearby Circular Quay provides connections with other buses and train services.
Mr O’Dea said, “Customers can go online and use the trip planner at transportnsw.info, or the route finder tool at mysydney.nsw.gov.au, which shows how all of the 180 routes to and from the city will change and allows commuters to try out several travel options.
“They can also plan trips by downloading real-time transport apps, and local customers can receive bus service updates for their area by following the new Transport Info Twitter handle @BusesNorth. Alternatively, they can call 131 500.”
