Postal Vote Applications for the 2015 State Election have been pouring into the Office of the Member for Davidson, Jonathan O'Dea.
"Many people are indicating they will be away overseas or interstate, while others who find it difficult to attend a polling booth due to ill health, are also applying," Mr O'Dea said.
"Over 1,500 Postal Vote Applications have been received by my office and forwarded to the Electoral Commission for processing.
"The Electoral Commission will begin posting out ballot papers tomorrow. So those who lodged their applications early should soon start receiving their ballot papers in the mail," he said.
"Pre-poll voting is now also available for those who may find it difficult to attend a polling booth on 28 March 2015. While I will be visiting two dozen polling booths on election day, I won't be voting at them. Instead, I voted today at the Davidson Pre-Poll Booth.
The address for Davidson Pre-poll voting in the 2015 NSW election is Unit 27, 14 Narabang Way, Belrose and the opening hours are 8.00am to 6.00pm, Monday to Friday. The hours will be extended to 8.00pm on Thursday 26 March and the booth will open on Saturday, 21 March from 9.00am to 5.00pm – but not on polling day.
There are also shared booths at 3-9 Spring Street, Chatswood and at 810 Pacific Highway, Gordon.
Another alternative is the new "ivote" computerised system, for those with a disability and for those who will be outside NSW on 28 March 2015. However, voters need to register before 1.00pm on election day, and vote before the close of polls at 6.00pm. More details can be found at www.ivote.nsw.gov.au or by phoning 1300 02 2011.
On Saturday, 28 March 2015, polling booths will open between 8.00am and 6.00pm and voting is compulsory. The fine for failing to vote is $55.
