Member for Davidson, Jonathan O’Dea joined representatives of the Belrose Bowling Club today to sign a historic Memorandum of Understanding between local clubs and the NSW Government.

The MoU provides stability for local clubs and the wider community over the next four years, and was signed locally at an official ceremony at the Belrose Bowling Club today.

The MoU provides certainty, not only for clubs in the Davidson electorate, but also for their almost 107 employees, more than 6000 members and the 170 club volunteers.

The agreement locks in tax rates for the next term of the NSW Government and commits to further enhancing the ClubGRANTS program – a move that is expected to see the average annual economic contribution of clubs to the state grow to a record $3.7 billion per year, while the amount of direct community funding is expected to soar to $128 million per annum.

With a focus on strengthening industry viability and red tape reduction, the MoU also makes sure local clubs can continue to operate as community hubs, building and maintaining essential local infrastructure.

Member for Davidson Jonathan O’Dea said, “Local clubs make a fantastic contribution to our local community. The NSW Government should provide certainty for clubs like the Belrose Bowling Club to plan for the future.”

Belrose Bowling Club Secretary Manager John Cormio said that this MoU is huge win for the Davidson community.

“The MoU provides stability and certainty for not-for-profit clubs and will allow us to continue supporting the community through in-kind support and the ClubGRANTS program.

“We look forward to working with a re-elected Jonathan O’Dea over the next four years to deliver great outcomes for our community,” he said.

ClubsNSW Chairman Peter Newell also welcomed the MoU, saying: “When not-for-profit clubs know what the future looks like, they’re better able to support their local area, create jobs and invest in new facilities.”
