Member for Davidson, Jonathan O’Dea has called on the community to nominate projects to improve community facilities in the Davidson electorate.
Mr O’Dea said there is $3 million in funding available to improve local lifestyles by developing parks, walkways and cycleways, such as the mountain bike facility, planned for the soon-to-be-closed Belrose landfill site.
“This is a great opportunity for councils to access funding for better outdoor community facilities and help people make the most of our beautiful area,” Mr O’Dea said.
“The Metropolitan Greenspace Program has funded some fantastic local projects in previous years.
“In the Davidson electorate these projects have previously included $40,000 to construct a new 750 metre bush track, providing walking access to Garigal National Park at Rocky Creek from Koola Park in East Killara.
“I want to make sure the Davidson electorate receives its fair share. That’s why I am encouraging councils to make applications,” Mr O’Dea said.
The funding is available to councils on a dollar-for-dollar basis.
Further information and application forms are available on the Department of Planning and Environment website, www.planning.nsw.gov.au
Applications close on Friday, 31 October 2014.
