Member for Davidson, Jonathan O'Dea said today the NSW Liberals and Nationals Government has delivered another election commitment to support the creation of 100,000 extra jobs for NSW, by offering a payroll tax rebate to businesses.

“Over the past decade, NSW under Labor has suffered the lowest jobs growth of any mainland Australian State,” Mr O'Dea said.

"Now, after a decade of lagging employment growth, the State Government is kick-starting the economy under its Jobs Action Plan, including the business payroll tax rebate.

“From personal experience in running businesses, I know this payroll tax rebate will give local business owners greater support to employ more staff and expand their business.

"The creation of these jobs will have a considerable impact on building confidence within individual communities and reducing the stress of unemployment on families, he said.”

"The Jobs Action Plan will lower the unemployment rate and translate to a rise in economic activity of up to $3.6 billion.

"It will make NSW a more attractive destination for new investment and will make NSW more competitive with other Australian State and Territories.

"The Government believes lower taxes are central to rebuilding the NSW economy," Mr O'Dea said.

"The payroll tax rebate of $4,000 is equivalent to the annual payroll tax bill for one employee on the average wage and will be paid in two parts, at 12 months and 24 months after the employee is hired.

“We are determined to reduce unemployment within in NSW.

The payroll tax rebate will both kick-start the economy and will promote the creation of long term sustainable jobs for our State and the people of Davidson," Mr O'Dea said.
