Member for Davidson and Chair of the NSW Public Accounts Committee (PAC), Jonathan O’Dea, concludes a valuable two-day fact-finding tour of far western NSW today.

Mr O’Dea said the PAC has been visiting Menindee, Wilcannia and Broken Hill as part of its follow-up of the Auditor-General’s performance audit report on the literacy of Aboriginal students.

The Public Accounts Committee’s functions include the examination of any report of the Auditor-General laid before the Legislative Assembly and any circumstances connected with those reports.

“The tour of far western NSW is allowing members of the PAC to visit schools with a high proportion of Aboriginal students,” Mr O’Dea said.

“Yesterday, the Committee visited Menindee Central School, Wilcannia Central School and the St Therese’s Community School in Wilcannia.

“Today’s tour includes a visit to the Railway Town Public School in Broken Hill,” Mr O’Dea said.

Mr O’Dea has been joined on the visit by PAC members, John Williams, who is the local Member for Murray-Darling, the Member for Londonderry, Bart Bassett and the Member for Maroubra, Michael Daley.
