Member for Davidson, Jonathan O’Dea said that while students and teachers have been on holidays, two local schools have been busy with major capital projects.

Mr O’Dea said in the Davidson electorate, major capital works worth up to $15.8 million have been progressed.

The major works comprise projects, each for $7,900,000, at Killara High School and Cromehurst School at Lindfield.

In 2013/14, $420 million of capital works funding is being invested in NSW public schools.

Minor capital works, including construction of new science laboratories and permanent classrooms, are being provided across the state at a cost of $204 million.

Mr O’Dea said more than 750,000 NSW public school students will return to school next week.

“Starting school can be daunting for many students, especially those beginning preschool, primary school and high school,” Mr O’Dea said.

“Resources to assist with back to school are available online at www.schoolatoz.nsw.edu.au

“Help is also available to parents and caregivers via the Back-to-School Hotline, 1300 738 338.

“The hotline will be available between 8:30am and 4:30pm weekdays from Tuesday 28 January until Friday 14 February,” Mr O’Dea concluded.
