Ku-ring-gai Mayor Jennifer Anderson has been named the Davidson Electorate’s 2014 Local Woman of the Year.

“I congratulate Councillor Anderson on being the Davidson Woman of the Year, due in part to her extensive community work through Ku-ring-gai Council,” Member for Davidson, Jonathan O’Dea said.

In addition to being elected Ku-ring-gai Mayor on two occasions, Councillor Anderson was Deputy Mayor for three years, Chair of Council’s Heritage Reference Committee for five years and Chair of the Community Reference Committee.

She has also served on Council’s Audit Committee and represented the Council on the Northern Sydney Regional Organisation of Councils and the Metropolitan Libraries Association.

“Her long service on Council is indicative of Jennifer’s much broader commitment to our local community,” Mr O’Dea said.

Other past and current achievements include:

  • Board Member of Eryldene Historic House and Garden
  • Active member of the Bradfield ANZAC Centenary Committee
  • Served for several years on the board of the Ku-ring-gai Youth Development Service (KYDS)
  • Member, State Executive, NSW Parents' Council and State Council of the NSW Federation of P&C Associations
  • Patron of various other local organisations 

“Jennifer Anderson is an inspiration to all and particularly to other women.” Mr O’Dea said.

“Her commitment and passion to serve her local community is admirable and I am delighted to announce her as the Davidson Electorate’s 2014 Local Woman of the Year,” he concluded.
