Member for Davidson, Jonathan O’Dea has presented Frenchs Forest identity, Tony Philps with a NSW Premier Award for outstanding community service.
“It is always a great pleasure to present such an award, acknowledging the sacrificial work of someone for the benefit of many,” Mr O’Dea said.
“There are only two NSW Premier’s Community Service Awards available to an electorate each year and Tony is a worthy recipient.
“It was appropriate that I presented his award, while with some of his mates at the Belrose Men’s’ Shed,” Mr O’Dea said.
Tony Philps was instrumental in establishing the Men’s Shed at Belrose and continues to actively participate in its activities. The Shed centres on providing older men with a place to meet and turn their hand to various woodworking skills.
Tony was the President of the Lions Club of Frenchs Forest for two years and is still on the executive team. He is also a past District Governor of Apex.
“Tony has been a great community worker, active in the local area and beyond,” Mr O’Dea said.
“Many have benefitted from his efforts and it is appropriate to acknowledge Tony’s outstanding community service,” he said.
