Member for Davidson, Jonathan O'Dea has announced more than $30,000 has been allocated to the Belrose area under the 2011-2012 Sport and Recreation Facility Grant Program.
“I am delighted that $30,795 will go to the Belrose/Terrey Hills Raiders Soccer Club to upgrade lighting at Wyatt Reserve,” Mr O'Dea said.
The upgrade has been needed for some time and should be welcomed by the local Soccer Club and others who use Wyatt Reserve at night.
The announcement coincided with an open meeting convened by the Forest Branch of the Liberal Party at the Belrose Bowling Club overnight.
Special guest was Sports Minister, Graham Annesley who addressed the meeting and took questions from the local sporting fraternity and community members.
The local funding boost by the NSW Government will help increase the availability and quality of local sport and recreation facilities in the Belrose area.
“Good facilities allow local sporting clubs to thrive and make it easier for people to participate,” Mr O'Dea said.
He said the NSW Government is committed to increasing participation in sport and exercise.
Grants have been awarded to not-for-profit sports clubs and local Councils across the State.
“I hope the upgraded facilities supported by this program encourage more people into physical activity, which is one of the essential elements of a healthy lifestyle,” Mr O'Dea said.
