Member for Davidson, Jonathan O’Dea has paid tribute to the retiring Member for Ku-ring-gai and former Premier, Barry O’Farrell.
“Mr O’Farrell made an extraordinary contribution to NSW politics and through it to the people of New South Wales,” Mr O’Dea said.
Mr O’Farrell announced overnight that he was retiring from NSW politics and would not contest his seat of Ku-ring-gai at next year’s State election.
“Barry O'Farrell's leadership efforts generated a unity, focus, and discipline to the NSW Liberal team that resulted in us being elected to govern in March 2011,” Mr O’Dea said.
“The O'Farrell/Baird Government's success since then is reflected in NSW's elevation to the No.1 State ranking for economic performance.
Mr O’Dea said, “As another local NSW MP, I particularly acknowledge Barry's dedicated service to the people on Sydney's North Shore for almost 20 years.
“I thank him on behalf of our local and broader community.”
Mr O’Farrell has not indicated what he will do after retiring from politics.
